Poetry – You Woo Me Still

You Woo Me Still

The fires of your love
Burn deep and deeper
As embers within my chest;
In silence or in sleep,
In solitude or darkness,
In prayer or song,
In gladness or in joy,
I am persuaded.
Each breath of life
Is but a decoy
To catch up all I am
Flitting away
Unto your affections.

I turn at the scent
Of passion’s presence,
In a dazed linger,
Drifting in wonder
At your movements.
I take your lead,
Seeking your hand,
Your warmth,
Your heart,
Your Love.

Closer yet still away,
You say my name
With echoes…
You woo me still.
I turn again.
